Spelling Bee of Canada (SBOC) is an educational organization that encourages youth, parents, teachers and the community at large to participate in the education process. The SBOC organizes annual spelling bee aimed at children and youth 6-14 years of age. The participants are places into one of three categories, Primary age 6 to 9, Junior age 9 to 11 and Intermediate age 12 to 14, to vie for cash, trophies and prizes. Students age 15+ will become mentors to participants in their Region. The Spelling Bee of Canada was established in response to a need within the community for a stimulation, educational program, outside the regular school curriculum, which would focus specifically on English language basics. The SBOC’s programs are designed to contribute to the development of our youth’s self esteem by creating pride in academic achievement and, in the process, help to build a solid foundation for their future education and careers. Our mission is to Enrich the learning experience of our children & youth through growth in English vocabulary, public speaking and to promote self- confidence and Engage children & youth, parents, schools, businesses, religious institutions, and the community at large in a yearly education process.

This program offers a safe and supportive space for youth to discuss their thoughts, develop critical thinking skills, and connect with peers over shared interests. We dive into a different book, ranging from classic literature to contemporary novels, fostering a love for reading and encouraging personal growth. Whether you’re an avid reader or just starting your literary journey, our Book Club is the perfect place to discover new stories and make lasting friendships.

The Youth Connection Association for Academic Excellence Inc. offers tutoring services to children ranging from grades 1 through grade 9 in terms of their academic placements. The program focuses on Development of basic literacy and numeracy skills, Completion of homework assigned by schools, Development of positive social skills, Development of positive self esteem, and Development of effective communication skills. The Youth Connection Association for Academic Excellence Inc. provides a safe environment for young people to have fun and learn. The Club is supervised by caring and trained professionals who engage kids in several activities each year.

The Youth Connection Association Inc. addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by today’s youth, including unemployment, academic struggles, and lack of social skills. Our approach includes tutoring programs emphasizing civic education and basic math and language skills, mental health workshops, and individual and group counseling. We also offer a referral program to connect young people and their families to additional resources and services, including specialized apprenticeship programs in fields like electronics, automotive, and pharmacy. Our workshops cover vital skills such as communication, confidence building, anger management, and job search strategies. By providing these comprehensive services, we aim to deter youth from engaging in negative activities and support their transition into successful, functioning adults in high-demand industries.

Youth Connection Association for Academic Excellence Inc. creates an atmosphere of fun for the children, so they can be part of their community and make history through creative art. The mission and goal of YCA Inc. are: to invest our strength and energy in bringing the rich cultural heritage into practice; and to make sure every black child gets the opportunity to strive in pursuit of excellent performance, where they can express their inner-self, through the Art of Dance, Drama, and Dialogue. The Youth Association Association For Academic Excellence Inc. is currently in the process of developing it’s own youth drama group in the very near future.

Our dance group is a performing arts designed to allow youth to participate in organized dance. The group addresses youth issues through their performances to create awareness and provide information through positive behavior. This exposure to the art of dance allow the youth to participate in organized activities, training and become well — rounded citizens. We provide Life and Social Skills Training, Leadership Training, The six Pillars of Character into daily life, and Self Awareness/ Self-esteem Enhancement.

Now in its 30th year, our recreation program caters to boys and girls aged 6-16, focusing on recreation, education, and career advancement. We offer a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, and volleyball to promote physical fitness and teamwork. Additionally, we provide movie nights for entertainment and socialization. To support our participants’ future goals, we also offer job search assistance and career counseling, helping them navigate their career paths and make informed decisions. Our comprehensive program is designed to foster overall development and prepare participants for a successful future.
