All Volunteer positions require between 1 – 2 hours commitment each week.
Mentor: Build and foster a trusting, positive relationship by spending one-on-one time with a member. Provide academic and moral support, encouragement and guidance. Evenings hours available.
Tutor: Assist small groups of members with homework in various subject areas.
Computer Instructor: Assist with programs in the computer lab, including educational software, the Internet and games.
Coaches and Referees: Assist with physical education programs, such as sports group games, tournaments and leagues.
Leadership: Assist with programs that provide life skills, goal setting, discussion sessions and conflict resolution that prepare youth to be responsible, self reliant and caring adults.
College and Career Advisers: Help teens explore educational and career aspirations. Activities include job shadowing, college/University tours and college/career fairs.
Student Volunteering
Volunteer opportunities exist for students who are currently involved in a college or university programs that require a placement as part of their curriculum. The placement opportunities available at the Boys & Girls Club of Windsor and Essex county focus mainly on program support at the clubhouses, but are dictated by the requirements of the placement and the needs of our organization.
High school students requiring 40 hours of volunteer service have some options too (clubhouse volunteering, special events and sometimes administration support).
Special Event Volunteers: Help during special events at various Clubs, such as holiday parties, national celebrations, etc. Types of activities vary based on event. Time requirements can be between 2 – 6 hours.
YCA hosts a variety of special events throughout the year to raise funds for our programs as well as community awareness about our organization and the programs and services we provide. This volunteer opportunity is on an on-call basis and requires a commitment of any where from a few days a year to attending every event, depending on the interests of the volunteer.
